Morena Corradi is Associate Professor of Italian at ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ. She holds a Laurea in Modern Languages and Literatures from the University of Bologna, a MA in Italian from the University of Washington, and a PhD in Italian Studies from Brown University. Her research interests are 19th-century fantastic literature and theory, nationalism, cultural studies, 19th-century printed media, narrative theory. Her teaching areas include 19th and 20th century Italian literature, contemporary Italian culture and society, nation-building. She is the author of articles on the Milanese Scapigliatura, and on post-unification political and literary journals. She has published the monographÌýSpettri d’Italia: scenari del fantastico nell’Italia postunitaria (Longo Editore, 2016).

Anthony Julian Tamburri is Dean of the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute (ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ, CUNY) and Distinguished Professor of European Languages and Literatures. He is co-founder and co-director of Bordighera Press with Fred Gardaphé and Paolo Giordano, which is now an official entity of the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute. Tamburri served as president of the Italian American Studies Association and of the American Association of Teachers of Italian. Concentrating on semiotics, the literature and cinema of Italy and its diaspora, and interpretation theory, he has authored twenty-three books, long and short, in both English and Italian, and more than 140 peer-reviewed essays and book chapters. His books within the past five-plus years include Signing Italian/American Cinema: A More Focused Look (2021); A Politics of [Self-]Omission: The Italian/American Challenge in A Post-George Floyd Age (2022); Expanding Diasporic Identity: A Multi-directional Path to the New Italian Writer (2025); Gli americani italiani: cultura e società . Nicoletta Stame and Sabrina Vellucci, eds. (2025); and Knowledge, What Is It Good For? Italian/American Leadership in the Twenty-first Century (2025).

Hermann W. Haller
Hermann W. Haller is Professor of Italian at ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ and at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Bern, after studying Romance Philology, Italian and French language and literature at the Universities of Bern, Florence, Paris. He is the author ofÌýDer deiktische Gebrauch des Demonstrativums im AltitalienischenÌý(1973),ÌýIl Panfilo veneziano. Edizione critica con introduzione e glossarioÌý(1982),ÌýThe Hidden Italy. A Bilingual Edition of Italian Dialect PoetryÌý(1986),ÌýUna lingua perduta e ritrovata: l’italiano degli italo-americaniÌý(1993),ÌýThe Other Italy: the literary canon in dialectÌý(1999),ÌýLa Festa delle Lingue. La Letteratura dialettale in ItaliaÌý(2002),ÌýTra Napoli e New York. Le macchiette italoamericane di Eduardo MigliaccioÌý(2006), the critical edition of John Florio’sÌýA Worlde of WordesÌý(2013), and of more than one hundred articles, book chapters, and reviews. His research interests are mainly in Italian linguistics, the relations between language and literature, Italian dialect literature. He was a NEH fellow (1994-95), and received the International Dino Campana Award (1990) and the Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione MLA Publication Award (1998). He was elected in 2006 as a Member of the Accademia della Crusca (Socio Corrispondente Straniero).
