APPLICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

HOW TO APPLY

To declare a BBA Major students must apply to the BBA program following the steps outlined here:

 

BBA applications are reviewed once a month, at the end of the month. Applicants will be notified of the department’s decision on the first week of the following month after their application submission.

Students who wish to declare a BBA major must fulfillÌýallÌýof the following requirements in order to be considered for the BBA program:

    1. Complete ECON 101 & 102 and ACCT 101 & 102ÌýbeforeÌýapplying
    2. Submit anÌýÌýfor entrance to the BBA program
    3. Obtain a minimum GPA of 2.5 across the 4 courses listed above
REQUIREMENTS

Requirements forÌýActuarial StudiesÌýMajors:

  1. Admission to the BBA program, which requires a minimum GPA of 2.5 (subject to revision) in the first four courses listed below.
  2. A minimum GPA of 2.0 for courses taken as part of the Actuarial Studies Major at QC.
  3. No individual grade below C- is accepted.
  4. No more than 21 credits can be transferred into the program from other colleges.

Important Announcement for Actuarial Studies Majors:
Please do not wait until your last semester to take Math 242. It is a course that closes quickly, often during preregistration. When you determine the semester you plan on taking Math 242, please email your name, CUNY ID, and desired semester to joan.nix@qc.cuny.edu. Please note that your request must be submitted no later than the first week of the semester that you plan on REGISTERINGÌýfor Math 242. There are no guarantees that you will be able to take the course during your desired semester, therefore, please do not want until yourÌýLASTÌýsemester at QC to take this course.

Actuarial Science from Math department:
Students who wish to pursue a career as an actuary may also opt to major in Mathematics, pursuing the Actuarial Science option. Please see visit the Mathematics website for more information.

Note regarding BUS 111 and BUS 140
The Department of Economics is introducing two new courses during Fall 2026 for BBA Majors in Finance, International Business and Actuarial Studies (BUS 111: Introduction to Management; and BUS 140: Introduction to Business Analytics. These courses will be required in the BBA programs instead of the previous two courses (BUS 111 instead of BUS 247 Managerial Economics; and BUS 140 instead of CSCI 48 Spreadsheet Programming). Students that have taken BUS 247 or CSCI 48 already do not need to do anything, the Department of Economics will consider those courses as part of their BBA program. For the rest of students, the Department of Economics recommends taking BUS 111 and BUS 140 instead as part of the required courses. Finally, BUS 247 will still be considered as part of the Corporate Finance, International Business and Actuarial Studies programs but as an elective.
