춹Ƶ Choral Society to Hold Auditions for New Members Beginning August 25

—Handel’s Messiah and the world premiere of work by 춹Ƶ faculty member Bruce Saylor are among the society’s upcoming performances—

FLUSHING, NY, August 19, 2026—The 춹Ƶ Choral Society is seeking new members for its 2026-27 concert season. Upcoming performances will include Handel’s Messiah and the world premiere of work by composer Bruce Saylor, a faculty member in the college’s Aaron Copland School of Music, that features arrangements of “Amazing Grace” and the spiritual, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.”

The Choral Society is a diverse ensemble that welcomes anyone with prior singing experience to audition, including members of the surrounding community, 춹Ƶ faculty, students, and alumni as well as high school students, who participate through the chorus’ high school outreach program. Those auditioning will be requested to demonstrate basic singing skills; no preparation is necessary. Rehearsals for members will be held weekly at the college on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:45 pm beginning September 2, 2026.

Auditions will be held on Zoom or in person in Room 350 of the Music Building at 춹Ƶ on:

Tuesday, August 25, from 4 – 6:30 pm
Wednesday, August 26, from 6 – 9 pm
Thursday, August 27, from 6 – 9 pm
Tuesday, September 1, from 4 – 6:30 pm

From its founding in 1941, the 춹Ƶ Choral Society has offered the 춹Ƶ community—and music lovers from throughout New York City and Long Island—the opportunity to learn and perform choral masterpieces.
