SoribelÌýGenao,ÌýPhD,Ìýis a scholar,Ìýpractitioner,Ìýand Full Professor of Educational Leadership at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ,ÌýCity University of New York. Her academic work focuses on culturally responsive leadership,Ìýeducational equity,Ìýhigher education leadership,Ìýfaculty development,Ìýand organizational culture within educational institutions. She has held a range of academic leadership roles,Ìýincluding Deputy Chair of Education and Community Programs,ÌýProgram Coordinator for Educational LeadershipÌýandÌýBi/Multilingual Extension,ÌýProvost Diversity Faculty Fellow,Ìýand Professional Staff Congress Grievance Counselor.Ìý

Dr Genao earned her doctorate in Public Administration with a concentration in Urban Education from Rutgers University,ÌýNewark,Ìýwhere her research examined the effectiveness of alternative education collaboratives in improving student outcomes in urban contexts. She also holds a Master of Science in Urban Affairs and Planning from Hunter College,ÌýCity University ofÌýNew York,Ìýand a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from StÌýJohn’sÌýUniversity withÌýadditionalÌýacademic study in South Africa and Ghana.Ìý

Her scholarship appears in leading peer-reviewed journals,Ìýincluding the Journal of School Leadership,ÌýInternational Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education,ÌýIntercultural Education,ÌýMulticultural Learning and Teaching and Education,Ìýand Urban Society. She currently serves as Chief Editor of the Journal of School Leadership. Her research examines leadership identity,Ìýrace,Ìýgender,Ìýpower,Ìýfaculty and student experiences,Ìýand the institutional conditions that shape equity,Ìýbelonging,Ìýand professional sustainability in higher education.Ìý

Dr. Genao is deeply engaged in doctoral education and mentorship and has chaired and supervised dissertations across educationalÌýleadership,Ìýpublic administration,Ìýand human services. Her teaching spans doctoral,Ìýmaster’s,Ìýand undergraduate levels,Ìýwith courses in educational leadership theory,Ìýcurriculum,Ìýsupervision management for teaching and learning,ÌýandÌýculturally responsiveÌýeducationÌýand evaluation. Across her academic work,Ìýshe advances scholarship and practice grounded in rigor reflexivity and a commitment toÌýjustice-orientedÌýleadership.Ìý
