UBUNTU Mentor Job Description\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nUBUNTU Mentors are required to support and encourage new first year students of color as they adjust to ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ. Mentors will conduct one-on-one and group meetings with their mentees. UBUNTU mentors will serve as resourceful and knowledgeable guides for their mentees through self-motivation and a positive attitude.<\/p>\n

- Play an instrumental role by leading and guiding the first-year students of color in their first year at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ<\/li>\n
- Use UBUNTU program as a reference for future career goals<\/li>\n
- Earn up to $300\/month for their full participation in the program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Support students in a smooth transition to ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ by developing and maintaining a professional mentee\/mentor relationship<\/li>\n
- UBUNTU mentors are to serve as a resource to first year students of color by helping them identify and use appropriate campus services<\/li>\n
- Mentors must attend and participate in training sessions and events hosted by the
UBUNTU Program Committee<\/li>\n - Mentors must check in with their mentees via email at least once a week and host 1:1
session with their mentees at least once a month<\/li>\n - Mentors are required to host group meetings with their co-mentor and mentees at least
twice a month<\/li>\n - Mentors can meet with their mentees, whether in a group or 1:1, in person<\/li>\n
- Mentors are required to work independently as well as collaborate effectively and
positively with their co-mentor<\/li>\n - Encourage mentees to attend program events hosted and planned by the UBUNTU
Program Committee<\/li>\n - Serve as a positive role model, both in the UBUNTU program and within the Queens
