About the Faculty Fellows Program<\/h2>\n

The Provost\u2019s Faculty Fellows Program was launched in 2017 under the leadership of Provost Emerita Betsy Hendrey. The Program is modeled on the prestigious American Council on Education fellowship and is designed to mentor and support faculty to learn more about how the institution as a whole functions. Fellows work under the supervision of the Provost and in collaboration with members of the Provost’s and President’s Cabinets, on a year-long project addressing an area of improvement needed at the College. Fellows receive leadership training to supplement their project-specific learning.\u00a0<\/s><\/s><\/p>\n

The Program’s intent is to bring awareness to how the institution functions, to build productive collaborations between faculty and administration, and to deepen the leadership bench at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ. Previous Provost’s Faculty Fellows<\/a> have gone on to serve in leadership roles in their department, division, the college, the PSC, and CUNY Central.<\/p>\n

Applications for each cohort of Provost\u2019s Faculty Fellows open\u00a0in the spring of the year preceding the start of the Fellowship in the fall.<\/p>\n

2025\u201326 Faculty Fellow: Concettina Pagano<\/span><\/h3>\n

Psychology professor Concettina Pagano is the ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ 2025\u201326 Provost Faculty Fellow.<\/p>\n

Launched in 2017, the Provost\u2019s Faculty Fellows Program mentors faculty in learning how QC operates. Fellows work on year-long projects under the provost\u2019s guidance, collaborating with cabinet members and receiving leadership training. Past fellows<\/a> have advanced into leadership roles across QC, the PSC, and CUNY Central.<\/p>\n

In addition to teaching and research, Pagano has taken on many important roles at Queens. Pagano is the deputy chair of the psychology department; serves on the faculty senate at QC and CUNY; is chair of the psychology department\u2019s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility committee; and is a member of the personal and budget committee and academic planning and curriculum committee. Pagano is also chair of the Nominating Committee\u2014which submits nominations for committees to the Academic Senate\u2014and co-chair of QC\u2019s Middle States accreditation process for Standard VII: Governance, Leadership, and Administration. In 2025, Pagano was the recipient of the Presidential Faculty Award for Diversity and Inclusion.<\/p>\n

Pagano has a PhD from the CUNY Graduate Center, an MA from ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ, and a BA from NYU.<\/p>\n

During the fellowship year, Professor Pagano will work with chairs and departmental advisors across all departments to maximize transfer equivalencies, take a closer look at transfer advising in the majors, and help to ensure that the college\u2019s goal of creating clear and supported transfer pathways remains on track.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Middle States Fellowship has been granted to Peter Liberman. <\/strong>Peter is Professor of Political Science at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ and Graduate Center of CUNY, where he teaches courses on international politics.\u00a0 His research has investigated resistance and collaboration under military occupation, nuclear proliferation, and public foreign policy opinion.\u00a0 He is currently completing a book on the role of retribution in U.S. foreign policy attitudes while also conducting research on the development of undergraduates\u2019 ability to understand and evaluate written arguments. As a Middle States Fellow, Peter will help redesign the college\u2019s student course evaluation instrument and develop resources for students, faculty, and administrators to improve student evaluations and their use.<\/p>\n
