Dear colleagues:/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
It hardly seems appropriate to be discussing Summer, given that snow is on the ground. But as you/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u2019re all-too aware, it/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u2019s Summer already in the scheduling world. Indeed, if I had a time machine I/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u2019d have sent this email in December. That being noted, there is still plenty of time between now and June, and changes to your SU26 schedule to better align with this guidance are welcome./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
Summer at QC has constituted a notably less-strategic space, both for serving our students and for generating revenue, than the Fall and Spring semesters. Because Summer is not in faculty workload, we are looking at a starker calculus of revenues and expenses. We also have shorter semesters and more flexibility to address needs of specific student populations./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
With that in mind:/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
The College is currently reviewing the Summer Incentive model, by which a portion of Summer revenue is returned to the departments. Past practice has been neither particularly incentivizing nor equitable across departments. I have sought input on changes to this model beginning in Fall 2025, and those discussions are ongoing./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
Finally, at our March P&B meeting we will reiterate in-person expectations for department personnel over the Summer period./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
Thank you for your partnership as we strive to operate in a manner that better serves our students and ensures the financial sustainability of our institution. Ultimately, these changes strengthen our efforts at student retention and student success. I know that change can be difficult, but I also realize that as a community we all share the goal of success for our wonderful ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
Thank you,
Patricia/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n

Dear Faculty,/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
I hope you had a productive and fulfilling winter and are enjoying the start of the Spring 2026 semester. I write today with critical information about actions that are needed from all administrators, faculty, and instructional staff to support our students with disabilities at CUNY./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
A. Background/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n CUNY is committed to providing access to higher education and ensuring equitable outcomes for all students, including qualified students with disabilities. This is consistent with our mission and required by a variety of state and federal laws, including Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which provides otherwise qualified students with the right to reasonable accommodation./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n In 2023, CUNY entered into a Voluntary Compliance Agreement (VCA) with the United States Department of Justice that applies to every campus and requires further work across the institution in meeting the needs of students with disabilities. Ongoing action by administrators, faculty, and instructional staff is needed to comply with the terms of the VCA. CUNY/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u2019s full set of ADA policies relating to students can be found here: Effecting Reasonable Accommodations and Academic Adjustments Procedures Relating to Accommodations./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n /provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n B. Actions Required/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n We remind all administrators, faculty, and instructional staff of existing obligations under law and CUNY policy:/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n Moreover, CUNY CIS has announced its Spring 2026 CIS Training webinar schedule for the CUNY community, featuring an Accessibility Series aligned with upcoming ADA Title II updates and an expanded AI Series focused on practical, skill-building applications. View full descriptions and register here /provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u2013/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u00a0CISTraining 2026 Registration Form (please note, you need to be logged into Microsoft 365 with your CUNY Login account in order to be able to access the registration form)./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n To facilitate and manage student accommodation requests, CUNY utilizes Accommodate, a university-wide information management system that organizes and securely stores student information. Faculty can expect official communications from the Accommodate platform prior to and at the start of each semester with accommodation requests. Faculty can access accommodation requests at any time in an organized manner on the faculty portal and additionally can submit exams to the Disability Service Office or testing centers through the system. We are committed to providing seamless support for all students with disabilities to bolster their academic achievement and advance equity across our institution./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n Ultimately, the goal of our collective efforts is not simply to comply with the VCA and the ADA, which has been in effect for more than thirty years, but to fully meet the needs of our students with disabilities and ensure full access to equal educational opportunities. Thank you in advance for your efforts as we continue this important work together./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n Best,/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n [/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770//et_pb_accordion_item][/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770//et_pb_accordion][et_pb_text admin_label=”2025 Text” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n [/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770//et_pb_text][et_pb_accordion admin_label=”2025 Accordion” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Scheduling Guidance (December 19, 2025)” open=”on” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n Dear Department Chair and Program Director colleagues:/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n As we navigate the Spring 2026 scheduling period, I am providing this guidance to ensure clarity of information and coordination across academic divisions, departments, and programs. I do wish to begin by noting your good work to adapt to new technology as well as to thank you for your partnership during this difficult financial time for the college./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n /provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n Review and cancellation calendar and chart of recommended actions/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n Much of the scheduling process remains the same as it has been in recent past semesters. Importantly, there is a posted review and cancellation schedule for Winter and Spring 2026 courses available on my website under /provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u201cResources/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u201d -> /provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u201cFull-time faculty/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u201d -> /provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u201cKey Information/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u201d -> /provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u201cNotices and Calendars/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u201d. The upcoming semester/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/u2019s cancellation schedule will always be posted there./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n For Spring 2026, there are four course cancellation dates. Indeed, there are always multiple cancellation dates; the reason for this is that enrollments are dynamic, with students enrolling up to and after the start of the semester in question. There appears to be false information circulating that there is one hard, early cut date for underenrolled Spring 2026 sections. That is not the case. Instead, review and cancellation is a staged, collaborative process./provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n/provost/wp-json/wp/v2/pages/15770/n
