Fellows and Interns<\/h2>\n

The Special Collections and Archives (SCA) Fellowships Program offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and stipends to a limited number of graduate students enrolled in Library and Information Science programs each year. Participants may optionally use the fellowship to fulfill the internship requirement and receive course credits. A full list of prior participants and their projects is posted below.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Grace Menninger is an archivist originally from Kansas City currently living in Brooklyn. In her free time, she enjoys literature, gaming and going to the beach.<\/p>\n

Ayana Mondesir<\/p><\/div>\n

Ayana Mondesir, Freda S. and J. Chester Johnson Civil Rights and Social Justice Archives Fellowship, 2026-2027<\/strong>
Ayana Mondesir is a graduate student in the MLS\/MA in Library Science and History dual degree program at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ, where she is also pursuing an Advanced Certificate in Archives. She earned her bachelor’s degree in history from Hampton University and currently serves as a teaching assistant at an elementary school in Westchester County. Her work in education and archives is guided by a shared commitment to expanding access to knowledge and providing a deeper understanding of history, identity, and community. She is particularly interested in preserving and amplifying the histories of Black, Brown, immigrant, and other historically underrepresented communities through inclusive, community-centered archival practices. As a Special Collections and Archives Fellow, Ayana looks forward to further developing her archival expertise while preparing for a career dedicated to preserving cultural memory, expanding access to historical resources, and strengthening connections between communities and their histories.<\/p>\n

Anjuli Rathod<\/p><\/div>\n

Anjuli Rathod, Shirley and Edwin Klein Family Fellowship, 2026-2027<\/strong>
Anjuli Rathod (she\/her) is an MLS student pursuing an Advanced Certificate in Archives. She received a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She works with the archival materials of several artists in their studios in NYC while maintaining an art practice. She is excited for the opportunity to process the ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ Art Center collection in Fall 2026.<\/p>\n

Ailbhe McDonnell, Shirley Klein Special Collections and Archives fellowship, Spring 2026
<\/strong>Ailbhe McDonnell is a student of the MLS\/MA program at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ, where they have focused on Irish, queer, family and public histories, with attention to how they interact and are activated in the archives. They are currently processing the Paul Klapper Library Art Center records, which provide a fascinating vision of the history of art at Queens. When not at QC, Ailbhe is also a fellow with the Citi Center for Culture + Queens Public Library program, where they are currently working with Queens Memory. Off hours, Ailbhe loves to work with textiles (mostly knitting), read fantasy and sci-fi, and look at the ocean.<\/p>\n

Daniel Giovanniello, Freda S. and J. Chester Johnson Civil Rights and Social Justice Archives Fellow, Spring 2026
<\/strong>Daniel Giovanniello is a graduate student pursuing a dual degree in library science and history with an Advanced Certificate in Archives at the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ. He is particularly interested in 20th century labor history. He lives in Ridgewood, works at the Great Neck Public Library, plays bass guitar in several Brooklyn-based bands, and enjoys making hot sauces.<\/p>\n

Bianca Oliva, Asian\/American Center Collection Fellow
<\/strong>Bianca Oliva processed the records of the ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ Asian\/American Center, publishing a finding aid for the collection using ArchivesSpace. Oliva also selected, scanned, and cataloged a sample of important materials from the collection for display on the JSTOR platform.<\/p>\n

Olivia Zisman, Shirley Klein Rare Book and Manuscript Fellow
<\/strong>Olivia Zisman processed oversized materials, including the World War II poster collection, and the Political Posters collection. She rehoused these items in acid free map folders and created custom backings and mylar enclosures for the items as necessary. She published finding aids for these collections using ArchivesSpace.<\/p>\n

Nancy Lambert, Freda S. and J. Chester Johnson Civil Rights and Social Justice Archives Fellows
<\/strong>Nancy Lambert processed the papers of gay author, playwright, director, and ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ alum, Edward M. Cohen. She also worked on the Queer at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ Oral History Project, writing a finding aid for existing recordings, as well as conducting a new interview.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Sarah Barlow-Ochshorn processed the Coach Lucille Kyvallos Athletics Records; curated a selection of the materials for display in the Pine Tree Foundation Special Collections exhibit area; and co-executed a Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon on Women and Sports.<\/p>\n

Pamela Padilla, Shirley Klein Rare Book and Manuscript Fellow
<\/strong>Pamela Padilla processed music manuscript collections from the Aaron Copland School of Music and Music Library; implemented the \u201cGuidelines for Archival Description of Notated Music\u201d; and solicited quotes from conservators for potential repair of select items from the rare book collection.<\/p>\n

Danica Stomp\u00f3r, Freda S. and J. Chester Johnson Civil Rights & Social Justice Archives Fellow
<\/strong>Dani Stomp\u00f3r processed the ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ GLASA (Gender, Love, and Sexuality Alliance) Journals; hosted a \u201cjournal party\u201d program to celebrate the opening of the collection; and processed transcripts for oral histories related to social justice, including interviews with Joan Nestle, founder of the Lesbian Herstory Archive.<\/p>\n

Ellis Ging, ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ Center for Jewish Studies Archives Fellow
<\/strong>Ellis Ging processed the Vincent Giordano Collection on Romaniote Jews, and uploaded and cataloged over 800 scans from the collection to the JSTOR platform.<\/p>\n

Brendan Enright, Freda S. and J. Chester Johnson Civil Rights & Social Justice Archives Fellow
<\/strong>Brendan Enright processed the Harvey Silver Political Ephemera Collection; digitized and catalogued 100 items from the Art Gatti Papers for upload on the JSTOR platform; and processed oral history transcripts.<\/p>\n

Melissa Lino, Shirley Klein Rare Book and Manuscript Fellow
<\/strong>Melissa Lino housed fragile volumes in custom phase boxes and created a digital exhibit using items from the Juvenile Rare Book Collection.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Victoria Fernandez coordinated the Student Help Lived Experience Project, a collaboration with alumni to document civil rights activities of the early to mid-1960s through oral histories, written submissions, and digital collections. She also authored a library guide to compile and share all relevant resources related to the project.<\/p>\n
