(Please note that the Library does NOT send print overdue notices through the regular mail.) QC Alumni receive sixteen weeks, or up to the Alumni ID\u2019s date of expiration, whichever comes first.<\/p>\n<p>Item requests fulfilled by SUNY or other non-CUNY libraries via InterLibrary Loan provide their own loan periods, which are dependent on the lending institutions themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Video media, such as VHS cassettes and DVDs, have loan periods designated for four hours in-house use only, or up to seven days. Please contact our\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:QC_ask_circ@qc.cuny.edu\">Circulation Department<\/a>\u00a0to confirm a specific video media\u2019s exact loan period from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cuny-qc.primo.exlibrisgroup.com\/discovery\/search?vid=01CUNY_QC:CUNY_QC&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OneSearch catalog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Media devices designated for currently registered ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ students (laptops, calculators, chargers) are five hours, or up to the time the Borrowing Desk closes.<\/p>\n<p>Dry erase markers may be requested and checked out at the Borrowing Desk for three hours, or up to the time the desk closes.<\/p>\n<p>Loan periods for Course Reserve textbooks and materials are dependent on the course itself. Please inquire at the Borrowing Desk for details on loan times.<\/p>\n<p><em>*Please note that the library reserves the right to shorten a loan\u2019s due time for item hold requests and recalls. The Library does not send overdue notices unless you have a valid email address. It is the patron\u2019s responsibility to return materials on time.<\/p>\n<p>Effective January 6, 2014,\u202fall CUNY Faculty will be responsible for paying library overdue fines\u202fin addition to any other library fees. This decision was made by the CUNY Board of Trustees \u2014 for more information see the\u202fRevision of the City University Tuition and Fee Manual.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000\"><em><strong>NOTE:<\/strong><\/em> <\/span>Library fines must be paid over at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ Bursar accompanied with a print-out of your library bill. Please inquire at the library\u2019s Borrowing Desk to receive a copy of your bill.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overdue fines:<\/strong><br \/>Late fees for Course Reserve materials, media videos, and sets of dry erase markers are calculated at $6.00 an hour \/ ten cents per minute, computed over a 24 hour period.<br \/>Late fees for media devices and accessories are calculated hourly at $15.00 an hour \/ twenty-five cents per minute, computed over a 24 hour period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recall and Rush Recall:<\/strong><br \/>Materials that have been recalled carry a late charge of $1.00 per day. If a recalled item is not returned within fourteen days, it will be considered lost, and an additional fee will be incurred.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lost books:<\/strong><br \/>Replacement fee: ACTUAL RETAIL COST + Lost Item Processing Fee: $25.00<br \/>If the book is no longer in regular retail circulation, the replacement cost is $85.00 + Lost Item Processing Fee:\u00a0$25.00<br \/>We\u00a0strongly encourage replacement book copies, either new, or used in good condition. (Note that renewals for QC Alumni are capped based on the Alumni ID\u2019s expiration date.) Renewals are processed at the Library\u2019s Borrowing Desk along with your valid QCard\/CUNY ID or QC Alumni ID, along with the materials present \u2014 or online from your \u201cMy Account\u201d via the CUNY <a href=\"https:\/\/cuny-qc.primo.exlibrisgroup.com\/discovery\/search?vid=01CUNY_QC:CUNY_QC&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OneSearch catalog<\/a>. (See below for Online Renewals.)<br \/>Renewals will NOT be granted if:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The item has a hold\/recall.<\/li>\n<li>The item has gone into \u201cLost\u201d status.<\/li>\n<li>The renewal limit has been reached.<\/li>\n<li>There is a block on the borrower\u2019s record, either from other overdue\/lost items, or outstanding fines.<\/li>\n<li>The materials are cataloged as non-renewable.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If a renewal request is not honored because of a recall, the item MUST be returned by your newly appointed due date. On the OneSearch page, click on\u00a0<strong>Menu\u00a0<\/strong>on the top-right corner, and then\u00a0<strong>My Account<\/strong>. This will take you to the CUNYFirst log-in page where you can sign in with your CUNYFirst credentials.\u00a0(If you are a non-CUNY patron such as Alumni, select \u201cOther\u201d, and sign in with the credentials the library provided when you received your library barcode.)<\/p>\n<p>After you are in\u202f\u201cMy Account,\u201d:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select your loans from the owning CUNY library institution list.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>You may select\u00a0RENEW ALL, or choose to\u00a0RENEW\u00a0individual loans. Make sure you have your valid ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ QCard to authorize check-out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lost\/Stolen ID Cards\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<article id=\"post-49\">\n<div>\n<p>If your ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ QCard is lost or stolen, you must notify Campus Security and the Borrowing Desk. Items borrowed on a lost\/stolen card are your responsibility until you report the loss or theft.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Search Requests<\/strong><br \/>If an item is not on the shelf and you have not found an item in the sorting room on Level 4 (Room 417a), you may request a search be done to locate the material.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hold shelf\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>You may place circulating materials on the 3-day hold shelf if you are unable to borrow upon leaving the Library. Please speak to the front Borrowing Desk to request a hold.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Theses\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ theses can be paged at the Borrowing Desk during regular service hours from 9:00am \u2013 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Library patrons who need to view theses at a later date need to call the desk ahead of time with proper citation information. Call 718-997-3702 and the item requested will be put on the hold shelf for in-house viewing.
