What can you do to prevent plagiarism and other forms of cheating, and how do you handle it when it occurs?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure your syllabus mentions and links to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cuny.edu\/about\/administration\/offices\/legal-affairs\/policies-resources\/academic-integrity-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CUNY Policy on Academic Integrity<\/a>, and discuss it with your students in class.<\/li>\n<li>Explain to your students what constitutes plagiarism, why it is prohibited, and what the consequences are of presenting other people\u2019s work as one\u2019s own.<\/li>\n<li>Let your students know what tools\u00a0you\u2019ll be using to check for plagiarism.<\/li>\n<li>Design assignments and tests that make it more difficult to cheat: more essays that require individualized responses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What to do when you\u2019ve discovered evidence of cheating<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gather documentation about the incident, then discuss it with your student.
