header_6_text_color=&#8221;#333333&#8243; custom_margin=&#8221;|-20px||-20px|false|false&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h4>Requirements<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<h5>Admissions<\/h5>\n<p>To apply to the major, you need to have the following credentials:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A minimum 3.0 GPA overall\u00a0<strong>and<\/strong>\u00a03.0 GPA for neuroscience major courses.<\/li>\n<li>Sophomore\/Junior standing, or advance permission of Neuroscience Director (Note: A minimum of two full semesters in the major is required for graduation).<\/li>\n<li>At least one semester in residence at ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ that includes completion of at least 7 credits of the major.<\/li>\n<li>A strong interest in conducting laboratory research as part of your curriculum.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Applications are accepted and reviewed each semester, with application due dates of<strong>\u00a0October 1<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>March 1\u00a0<\/strong>(or first business day after those dates if they fall on a weekend).\u00a0Applications may be downloaded by<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qc.cuny.edu\/academics\/psychology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/45\/2023\/09\/Neuroscience-Major-Application-May-2022-Cataldo-Copy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> clicking HERE <\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h5>Minimum Requirements to Remain within the Major<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>A minimum 3.0 GPA overall and 3.0 GPA for neuroscience major courses.<\/li>\n<li>Placement in an approved research laboratory no later than the beginning of the senior year, although earlier research placements are strongly recommended.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Students in the Neuroscience Program will be placed on probation for one semester if their GPA falls below 3.0. Students will have one semester to bring their GPA back above 3.0 or they will be removed from the Program.<\/p>\n<h5>Graduation Requirements<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Two full semesters in the major and successful completion of all course requirements (see\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.qc.cuny.edu\/Academics\/Degrees\/DMNS\/Neuroscience\/Pages\/Curriculum.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>curriculum<\/em><\/a><\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>Completion of all ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ graduation requirements.<\/li>\n<li>A minimum 3.0 GPA overall and 3.0 GPA for neuroscience major courses.<\/li>\n<li>Completion of a minimum of one year of research with an approved ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ mentor (see faculty) with whom you did your thesis.<\/li>\n<li>Submission of a honors thesis, approved by your research mentor, and a current CV.<\/li>\n<li>Oral presentation of your thesis research.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5>Accelerated BA\/MA Degree Program<\/h5>\n<p>For students whose goal it is to obtain a\u00a0Masters degree in Neuroscience, ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ offers an Accelerated Masters program in Neuroscience. This program allows undergraduate Neuroscience majors to take graduate courses as electives in their senior year, which then are applied toward completing both their BA and Masters degrees.
