Created by the Psychology and Biology Departments, the neuroscience major is intended primarily for students who are very interested in getting research experience in the area of neuroscience. Admission is by application only.<\/p>\n Although neuroscience majors must conduct research for a minimum of one year as part of their degree requirements, they are encouraged to spend as many years in a lab as possible. Consequently, seniors graduating between 2012 and 2018\u00a0spent an average of more than two years on their research projects, while completing their degree\u00a0in four years. All neuroscience majors must submit a written thesis and present their research in a public forum.<\/p>\n This rigorous training in neuroscience research is designed specifically to make students more competitive for post-graduate programs in neuroscience-related fields (e.g., MA, PhD, MD or MD\/PhD programs), or employment within neuroscience laboratories and companies in the private sector.
