The application is the same as for other CUNY colleges and similar to applications for colleges around the country.<\/p>\n High-achieving first-time college students should consider applying to the Macaulay Honors College<\/b><\/a>, which covers all tuition costs for in-state students, and provides many other opportunities. These tests are given solely to determine the student\u2019s level of preparation. The results are not entered into the permanent record but are used to determine section assignments in theory, ear training, and keyboard classes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Students who already have a background in music theory and would like to be exempted from some required classes in theory and musicianship are permitted to take the advanced placement test in music theory.
