Students<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Carefully read the instructions listed below, then use the button at the bottom of this page to start your Special Student Relief application.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The US Department of Homeland Security has designated some countries for Special Student Relief (SSR).\u00a0SSR suspends some rules regarding F-1 student enrollment and employment.<\/p>\n<p>These are the countries currently designated for SSR, with a link to the notice in the Federal Register, which includes specific eligibility Crisis in Burma (Myanmar)<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility<\/h3>\n<p>SSR applies to F-1 students who meet\u00a0<strong><u>all<\/u><\/strong> the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Are citizens of the designated country<\/li>\n<li>Were lawfully present in the United States in an F-1 nonimmigrant status on the date listed in the Federal Register (linked above)<\/li>\n<li>Are enrolled in a SEVP-certified school<\/li>\n<li>Are currently maintaining F-1 nonimmigrant status<\/li>\n<li>Are experiencing severe economic hardship as a direct result of the crisis in their home country<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Special Student Relief means that<strong>:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You may apply for\u00a0<strong>off-campus work authorization\u00a0<\/strong>based on\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qc.cuny.edu\/academics\/iss\/economic-hardship\/\">SEVERE ECONOMIC HARDSHIP<\/a>.
