Students interested in the\u00a0<strong>Master of Science in Secondary Education: Spanish <\/strong>should contact Dr.\u00a0Jennifer Eddy, who is the advisor.<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Students are required to meet with the appropriate Faculty Advisor for the program chosen.\u00a0 <strong>It is the responsibility of the student to register with the Advisor during the first weeks of the semester in which the first course applicable to the M. A.\/M. An intermediate level course in Romance language completed at the college with a grade of B or higher fulfills this requirement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ms-rteFontSize-2\"> <\/span><span class=\"ms-rteFontSize-2\"> <\/span> <span class=\"ms-rteFontSize-2\"> <\/span><span class=\"ms-rteFontSize-2\"> <\/span><span class=\"ms-rteFontSize-2\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ms-rteFontSize-3\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>4)\u00a0<strong>OPTIONAL:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Students who wish to complete a Thesis based on original research are required\u00a0to take the following two courses as part of the 33-credit requirement: Spanish 790. <em>Thesis Seminar<\/em>; and Spanish 791,\u00a0<em>Thesis Course<\/em>.<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">The 6-credit Thesis<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">may be substituted for the two required elective courses.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">This Thesis\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">will\u00a0normally be written in Spanish, or, by special permission, in English, and it must <\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent\"> <\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">follow the norms of the MLA Style Manual.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"ms-rteFontSize-3\"><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ms-rteFontSize-3\" align=\"left\"><span>Every student is urged to meet with the Advisor at least once every semester\u00a0<\/span><span>to discuss her\/his program and inform the Advisor of her\/his progress. No allowance will be made for a student&#8217;s faulty planning of her\/his own program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=&#8221;Course Breakdown&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; open=&#8221;off&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The 33 credits required for the degree are to be distributed as follows: <\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>SPAN 700 &#8211;\u00a0Stylistics and Composition<\/b> (3 credits).\u00a0 All students must take this course as soon as possible.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>At least 9 credits in Latin American literature, and 9 credits in Peninsular literature.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Six credits in seminar courses:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha\">\n<li><b>SPAN 783. Research Seminar: Linguistics.<\/b>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><b>SPAN 784.
