Soribel\u00a0Genao,\u00a0PhD,\u00a0is a scholar,\u00a0practitioner,\u00a0and Full Professor of Educational Leadership at ºì¶¹ÊÓƵ,\u00a0City University of New York. Her academic work focuses on culturally responsive leadership,\u00a0educational equity,\u00a0higher education leadership,\u00a0faculty development,\u00a0and organizational culture within educational institutions. She has held a range of academic leadership roles,\u00a0including Deputy Chair of Education and Community Programs,\u00a0Program Coordinator for Educational Leadership\u00a0and\u00a0Bi\/Multilingual Extension,\u00a0Provost Diversity Faculty Fellow,\u00a0and Professional Staff Congress Grievance Counselor.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr Genao earned her doctorate in Public Administration with a concentration in Urban Education from Rutgers University,\u00a0Newark,\u00a0where her research examined the effectiveness of alternative education collaboratives in improving student outcomes in urban contexts. She also holds a Master of Science in Urban Affairs and Planning from Hunter College,\u00a0City University of\u00a0New York,\u00a0and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from St\u00a0John’s\u00a0University with\u00a0additional\u00a0academic study in South Africa and Ghana.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Her scholarship appears in leading peer-reviewed journals,\u00a0including the Journal of School Leadership,\u00a0International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education,\u00a0Intercultural Education,\u00a0Multicultural Learning and Teaching and Education,\u00a0and Urban Society. She currently serves as Chief Editor of the Journal of School Leadership. Her research examines leadership identity,\u00a0race,\u00a0gender,\u00a0power,\u00a0faculty and student experiences,\u00a0and the institutional conditions that shape equity,\u00a0belonging,\u00a0and professional sustainability in higher education.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Genao is deeply engaged in doctoral education and mentorship and has chaired and supervised dissertations across educational\u00a0leadership,\u00a0public administration,\u00a0and human services. Her teaching spans doctoral,\u00a0master\u2019s,\u00a0and undergraduate levels,\u00a0with courses in educational leadership theory,\u00a0curriculum,\u00a0supervision management for teaching and learning,\u00a0and\u00a0culturally responsive\u00a0education\u00a0and evaluation. Across her academic work,\u00a0she advances scholarship and practice grounded in rigor reflexivity and a commitment to\u00a0justice-oriented\u00a0leadership.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
