Alternatively, the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from a recognized institution shall be considered as an acceptable equivalent for the general requirements of the BA, subject to the determination of the department\u2019s MFA Committee in concurrence with the Office of Graduate Studies.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In addition to three letters of reference, each candidate for admission shall upload\u00a0a portfolio of work as prescribed by the committee (you\u2019ll submit a URL to an online collection of images). This portfolio shall be examined by the committee, which shall have the authority to accept or reject the candidate.<\/li>\n<li>Your application is enhanced by previous study of art and art history.<\/li>\n<li>We highly recommend contacting the department to arrange a visit.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants should demonstrate satisfactory standards of spoken and written English. For applicants whose first language is not English, evidence of proficiency in English should be determined either through an interview or by submitting a standard test. The required score may under certain circumstances be waived by the department with permission from the ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ graduate admissions office. The aim of this degree is to produce graduates who can contribute significantly to the contemporary world of the visual arts both creatively and structurally, but who are also qualified to teach Studio Art at the college level\u00a0in accordance with\u00a0the College Art Association\u2019s Standards and Guidelines (1977, 1991, 2008).<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Graduates of the MFA in Studio Art program will develop into critically engaged and technically proficient artists capable of creating a cohesive and compelling visual statement.
