The internship must be in accounting or taxation and be relevant to the accounting curriculum at ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ<\/li>\n<li>Students will be required to submit a 20-page term paper on their internship experience<\/li>\n<li>Two (2) book reports will also be required. This will be discussed with Professor Solieri. One report will be based on the History Channel series \u201cThe Men that Built America\u201d. Intern with ºì¶¹ÊÓÆµ CIO &amp; VP of Finance and Administration, Troy Hahn on real business and technology challenges facing the College. Students will function as consultants, solving multi-disciplinary problems involving:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accounting &amp; Financial Analysis<\/li>\n<li>Information Technology &amp; Systems<\/li>\n<li>Management &amp; Operations<\/li>\n<li>Marketing &amp; Communication<\/li>\n<li>Data analytics, AI, ML, and Cybersecurity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students will work in small teams directly with Mr. Hahn and his staff, under the academic direction of Dr. Steven A. Solieri, CPA, producing real deliverables that support the College\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is a for-credit internship (unpaid for Fall 2026). Can I use this opportunity for the elective?<\/em><br \/>ANS: No<\/strong>. Because you are receiving 3 credits for completing the internship during the Fall or Spring semester, you are required to be in attendance during the 15 week Fall or Spring semester.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Will prior experience in accounting qualify for the Accounting 398 elective?<\/em><br \/>ANS: No<\/strong>. See previous FAQ<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Will VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) qualify for this elective?<\/em><br \/>ANS: No<\/strong>. VITA will not qualify for this elective.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Will a paid internship qualify for this elective?<br \/>ANS: Yes.<\/strong> Both paid and unpaid internships qualify.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Does the Accounting Department or Professor Satenstein have an inventory of internships available for students?<\/em><br \/>ANS: No.<\/strong> Please refer to the paragraph <a href=\"#secure-internship\">How to Secure an Internship.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I found an internship performing data entry. Is that sufficient for this elective?<\/em><br \/>ANS: No<\/strong>. Data entry, accounts payable or accounts receivable clerical work will not qualify.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I found an internship with a sole practitioner who happens to be a CPA. Will this opportunity qualify for this elective?<\/em><br \/>ANS: Yes<\/strong>. \u00a0Just keep in mind, before taking the internship for credit make sure your employer will involve you in tasks other than data entry. Please refer to previous bullet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>How will my final grade be assessed?<\/em><br \/>ANS:<\/strong> If you have met all the requirements of the elective by the end of the semester, students generally receive an above average grade for Accounting 398. Bi-weekly telephone and\/or Zoom meetings with Professor Satenstein are crucial. Your journal, term paper and book reports will be graded and will be calculated as part of your final grade assessment.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I am an International Student.
